1917: the March Revolution & the Bolshevik seizure of power

In 1917 Russia had not one revolution but two. In March a hungry, war-weary people swept away three hundred years of Tsars — yet the strange 'Dual Power' that followed was doomed from the start. We'll see why the Provisional Government failed, how Lenin returned with the irresistible promise of 'Peace, Bread and Land', and how Trotsky organised the seizure of the Winter Palace in October. Then we'll tackle the great exam question: why did the Provisional Government collapse?
