Population growth, structure & development
Narrated lesson · press play
In this lesson we look at why some countries are rich and developed while others are still developing, and what happens to a country as it grows. We meet the words 'developed' and 'developing', and the reasons behind the difference. Then we study population itself: birth rate, death rate, fertility rate and migration, and the simple sum that tells us how fast a country's people are growing. We build a population pyramid to see the shape of a nation's people, and we finish by asking what a growing, or an ageing, population means for an economy like Namibia's.
