Linear equations & inequalities

Equations are just puzzles with a hidden number, and this lesson sets that number free. We start with the balance idea — do the same to both sides — then solve one-step, two-step, bracket and both-sides equations, and equations with fractions by multiplying through. We turn word problems into equations, then move to inequalities: solving them, the special flip when we multiply or divide by a negative, drawing solutions on a number line, and picking out whole-number answers.
