We now travel to Russia, to study one of the great turning points of world history. We'll see the old Tsarist empire — a vast, poor land ruled by one all-powerful Tsar — survive the revolution of 1905, then be shattered by the First World War. We'll follow the March Revolution that forced the Tsar from his throne, watch the weak Provisional Government fail, and understand how Lenin and the Bolsheviks seized power in November 1917.
