Earthquakes, volcanoes, intrusions, the Rift Valley & world relief

Narrated lesson · press play

We study the restless inside of the planet: what causes earthquakes and volcanic eruptions and how they affect people; the three intrusions (batholiths, sills and dykes); the formation of the East African Rift Valley and its influence on relief and drainage — with a full case study of the advantages and disadvantages for its inhabitants; and finally the major relief elements of the whole world, from mountain ranges, continental shields and sedimentary basins to ocean basins, ridges, trenches and volcanic island arcs. Namibian and SADC context throughout.
