Once you have a good business idea, one of the very first decisions you must make is what FORM your enterprise should take. Will you trade alone as a sole trader, join with a partner, form a close corporation, build a company, or something else? In this lesson we meet every main form of enterprise used in Namibia, weigh up the benefits and challenges of each, learn how to compare them and make a justified choice for a real idea, and finish by researching how to break into a new market.

  • Identify, discuss and evaluate the main characteristics, benefits and challenges of the different forms of enterprise: franchise, turnkey project, Section 21 company, sole trader, close corporation, cooperative, partnership, joint venture, companies (private & public)
  • Compare forms of enterprise and make a justified choice for a chosen entrepreneurial idea
  • Conduct research and draw conclusions on opportunities to penetrate new markets
