A business is only as good as its people, so how does it find and build a good team? In this lesson we walk through the whole journey step by step: recruitment (attracting applicants, from inside or outside the firm), the documents a firm must write — job description, job specification, application form and advert — then selection (choosing the best person), induction (welcoming them), and training (on-the-job, off-the-job and induction training). We even draw a real job advert, and learn how to choose the right kind of training for each situation.

- Describe the means of selecting and training the workforce: recruitment, selection, induction, training
- Evaluate the appropriateness of different types of training to particular circumstances
- Develop appropriate materials for recruitment, e.g.: job descriptions, job specifications, application forms, advertisements
