How to record your results in a neat table, then turn those numbers into a graph you can read — with headings, units, a sensible scale and a line of best fit.
What you'll learn in this lesson
By the end you should be able to (NSSCO Biology 1.2.2–1.2.3):
- Locate, select and organise information and record results logically in tables or graphs, explaining the importance of units.
- Complete and process tables of data, using a calculator where necessary.
- Select suitable scales and axes: plot the independent variable on the x-axis and the dependent variable on the y-axis.
- Label each axis with the physical quantity and its unit (e.g. time/s) and give the graph an appropriate heading.
- Mark points clearly as crosses (×) or encircled dots, using vertical crosses (+) for a second curve, and draw one or several curves.
- Interpret charts and graphs and read values off them.
