What you'll learn in this lesson
By the end you should be able to (NSSCO Biology 3.2):
- Describe and compare the structure of a plant cell (palisade cell) and an animal cell (liver cell) as seen under a light microscope, limited to the cell membrane, cell wall, cytoplasm, nucleus, vacuoles and chloroplasts.
- Make temporary slides of plant cells (e.g. onion epidermis), observe and draw the cells seen under a light microscope.
- State the functions of structures in the cell (cell membrane, cytoplasm, nucleus, cell wall, vacuole, chloroplasts, mitochondria).
- Identify the different levels of organisation: cells, tissues, organs, organ systems and organism.
